Well, I lead life as a reclusive now, and many of my friends are fled to the suburbs, and maybe that’s appropriate because my friends are players but have families and don’t need this cynical urban pro scene and in that respect I am an amateur too, at least where the band and gig thing is concerned and glad I am because there’s a certain kind of amateur enthusiasm needed for music and the city cats lose it too fast in the rush for the dollar and the next gig…
me, with my work for modern dance and theatre class, well, what has been cruelly described as journeyman music work best discarded when a composer’s career happens,
by a hack writer no doubt, possibly waiting for his novel to fruit
anyway, this has kept me alive materially and emotionally often enough, balanced with all the other, the studio, the recording and writing
that is a unique voice

interesting how now all the audio arts guys are having to lick the droppings from the trough of visual stuff like films and games, all kinds of tawdry anthropomorphic tattle when faced with the abstract titan of
music
still, gotta get paid, nuh
yet will any private individual have to ever pay for music again… ?
PS (muttered aside)
Dunno about the music, but I like this:
“I fight back!” a grinning Alec Empire blurts, explaining why his iPod contains only three albums (by John Coltrane and Stockhausen) but has been filled up with bootleg films. “I demand free access to movies, because I’m a musician! They downloaded my music, so I have a right to get these movies from the internet.”
so says Alec Empire in the Guardian
Berlin ist dufte.

If even Keef says it, it’s worth your noting:
I do think a certain amount of self-knowledge would help people, rather than being always distracted by exteriors. You find a lot of people these days who cannot stand to be alone. And boredom? To me, that’s an illness. You could lock me up in solitary for weeks on end and I’d keep myself amused. All these gadgets now—it’s all about anything to defy the interior, to defy dealing with yourself.
