Look at these from the Guardian’s list, really not bad choices, if we must have such distinctions, at least from this perspective:

The Streets – an authentic voice, witty, articulate, intellectual, and yes, street… accompanied by grooves that are about grooves yet weirdly evocative for it.

and

Salif Keita

well, this guy, and exemplary is this recording, straddles tradition and really, ultra modern technique. Plus, it’s moving music, heart and body.
